Mr. Chang Lee, a 1992 graduate of Chula Vista High School in Chula Vista, California, created the Campbell Naismith Mathematics Scholarship in 2016. It is a $1000 scholarship plus a distinctive keeper trophy awarded annually to a high school student at Chula Vista High who demonstrates a sustained interest in mathematics and problem solving. It is meant to encourage students to take more mathematics while they are studying at Chula Vista High. A large perpetual plaque is displayed prominently at Chula Vista High with the winner’s name on it to commemorate the annual winner and to remind current students about the scholarship’s existence.
Mr. Naismith taught mathematics for approximately 14 years at Chula Vista High and was privileged to work together with many brilliant students, including Mr. Lee in 1992.
