RESPONSE OF HAN HOANG TO SCHOLARSHIP WINNER QUESTIONNAIRE
- Although Crawford requires three years of math, I continued to enroll in AP Calculus AB and Community College Statistics to increase and preserve the knowledge that I have already had to apply with other courses that might involve mathematics. Taking these advanced math courses are also recommended for my major, Pharmacological Chemistry. Despite how challenging the classes were, I enjoyed working with my peers and solving problems together. To make sure I understood the materials, I focused on studying and went to tutoring after school before I participated in extracurricular activities. AVID taught me time management, and the planner helped to maintain my schedule evenly.
- AP Calculus AB and Community College Statistics give me insight into the topics that I will be learning in my required math classes at UCSD. They also give me a head start on college requisites. The experience prepares me mentally to keep up with the schedule of the UC quarter system. From these classes, I learn to navigate the academic expectations I will encounter in college courses.
- There are many times when academics get stressful. You may want to give up, but think about how much you have accomplished; backing out will waste all the efforts you’ve put in up until now. Time management is important to keep up with classes. Make sure to give yourself enough rest and time for assignments. In that way, you can work better and more efficiently. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you feel overwhelmed. Talking to someone can help you unleash that pressure.
