The James Naismith Memorial Targe for Professional Piping March, Strathspey, and Reel was first awarded in 1993 at the San Diego Scottish Highland Games. It commemorates James Naismith, 1921-1991, a piper and Clydebank, Scotland native. The targe was designed and created by Hamish Yuile. Prize money is donated to the winner and the names of the winners are inscribed on this perpetual targe.
