Jamie Hamilton began piping in Oregon with Duncan MacKenzie. After moving to California he continued studying under Campbell Naismith. He played for many years with the House of Scotland Pipe Band, serving as both Pipe Sergeant and Pipe Major. An accomplished dance piper, Jamie played for the 1982 United States Highland Dance Championship in San Diego. After moving to Birmingham, Alabama he founded and served as Pipe Major for the Birmingham Society of Piping. He currently resides in South Carolina and plays with the Charleston Pipe Band. He enjoys solo performing and composing. He has had numerous compositions published in the Vortex Street Music collections.
