RESPONSE OF LYNNA THAI TO SCHOLARSHIP WINNER QUESTIONNAIRE
1. I was motivated towards more of a STEM and mathematics course of work because of my interest in working in evolutionary biology research in the future. I felt that prioritizing the classes geared towards my future major was beneficial and definitely prepared me as I moved into college. On top of other classes, athletics, clubs, and student government, I stayed focused by managing my time well with a digital calendar. Writing my responsibilities down meant I had to hold myself responsible for the things I needed to do.
2. My background with math from highschool was super applicable to all my new college courses. Because I was on a primarily STEM-heavy schedule, I found myself applying math to nearly everything I did. I discovered that math was a flexible subject, and I could apply it to a long range from biology to data management.
3. Advice I would give high school students would honestly to dream big. I never limited myself from dreaming big and reached for opportunities I would've never thought in a million years could work out for me; and I always still found a way to grow. Never set limits on yourself and your ability to develop, learn, and grow as a person. Those imaginary barriers are the only thing holding you back from accepting that you have the potential to do anything you set your mind to.
